Second National Conference of African American Librarians

AUGUST 5-7, 1994, AT THE HYATT Regency in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, some
1,000 to 2,000 school, public, academic and special librarians will
gather with exhibitors, authors and publishers from throughout the
United States and Canada at the Second National Conference of African
American Librarians. The theme is "Culture Keepers II: Unity Through
Diversity."

   As the theme implies, the Black Caucus of ALA is eager to invite a
broad and diverse audience. Programs are being developed now and
should cover topics from storytelling to Total Quality Management,
from cultural diversity in library staffing to Friends groups in
public libraries for tough budget times, from the relations between
black librarians and black authors and publishers to Workforce 2000.
